Chianciano - Wine Lesson

If you are interested in learning about and tasting a wide variety of Tuscan wines, here is an opportunity for you. Visiting different wineries is a difficult and often capricious effort; here, we offer a half-day wine appreciation and tasting session that encompasses all the great Tuscan vintages. Your morning at Palazzo Bandino starts at 10 AM, with a very entertaining and informative explanation of the history of these wines, followed by a tasting of each wine group, accompanied by cheese, olives and typical Tuscan bread.

A visit to the winery of Palazzo Bandino follows to witness the process whereby a grape becomes a sip. Lunch with wine follows, and afterward, you may purchase wine at very good local prices. Any day on request except Saturday.

Chianti Full-Day Driving Tour

If you are spending a little extra time in Tuscany, you might consider this wonderful one-day tour we offer in the region. Spend the day tasting wonderful wines and exploring the famous area between Florence and Siena known as Chianti. Your driving guide will pick you up at your hotel at 9.30 am. You leave Florence from the south, taking the winding and picturesque Chiantigiana Wine Road. Your day of tastings has begun! Your first stop will be the 13th century castle village of Montefioralle, with its quaint alleyways. Afterwards visit Greve in Chianti, the main town in the Chianti Classico region with its busy 19th-century market square. Time to stroll around the delightful piazza and visit the famous butcher Falorni, where you will be able to taste salamis, cheese and wild boar sausages. Greve is the birth town of Giovanni da Verrazzano, who in the 14th century discovered the bay of New York. If you wish here there is the chance to visit a local wine cooperative which proudly displays over 150 different types of wine, almost all of which you can taste. Lunch on your own in Greve. After lunch, we will head to the nearby farm of Davide Migliorini, Montagliari, where you will have a chance to walk through their historic wine and vinsanto cellars and taste not only their wonderful wines, but their small production of “mosto di chianti” - balsamic vinegar, which is aged is small casks from 15 to 30 years. Next stop is a small modern vineyard, Casa Emma, where a wonderful Chianti Classico is made. Then we can tailor the afternoon to your personal tastes. If weather permits you can visit the interesting Chianti Botanical Gardens. Or else you can have the possibility to learn more about the Etruscan civilization by visiting another charming wine town, Castellina in Chianti. If you have not had enough wine yet, a visit can be arranged to another fabulous nearby winery, Rocca della Macie. Then, an hour's drive back to Florence, where you will be left with memories to last a life time. The tour is approximately 7/8 hours long. The cost for the wine tastings are not included (price varies from winery to winery, some wineries are also free of charge). Please understand that the itinerary may change due to opening and closing times of local establishments.
