THE INTERNATIONAL KITCHEN LAUNCHES SISTER COMPANY WITH A FOCUS ON WINE TOURS THE INTERNATIONAL VINEYARD

June 22, 2006 – (Chicago, IL) Thirteen years after starting the leading cooking school vacation company for Italy, France and Spain, innovative tour operator Karen Herbst is creating a new business focusing on wine tours. The International Vineyard shares the philosophy of its older sibling; one-of-a-kind, well priced programs that individuals, couples and small groups can incorporate into their European vacations.

The International Vineyard will offer a range of short programs, generally three nights, in beautiful locations featuring "boutique" small production vineyards in the wine regions of France, Italy and Spain.

"Vacationers can add a wine country visit to a cooking program, or string two or three programs together for a complete wine vacation. Or, just stop for a few days of fun and informal tasting to learn about the wines of a region," says company President, Karen Herbst. The trips are designed for as few as two guests for almost any dates; an English-speaking contact assists clients at each location.

TheInternationalVineyard.com went live in June with a dozen programs and more will be added in the coming weeks. The cost is all-inclusive and ranges from $750 to $900 per person. Herbst says "Wine tours should not be intimidating or expensive; they should be fun and provide a unique experience regardless of your level of wine knowledge.”

Joining the company, as Director of Wine Tours, is Ronald Holden, a wine writer and author of five guidebooks who operated a luxury travel company for 15 years. “We are delighted to have someone of Ronald’s background creating these trips and helping launch our new venture,” says Herbst.

Holden reports that the European wine communities have responded enthusiastically to the new endeavor: “They tell me that now is the time, for English-speaking visitors to pay attention to the regional wines, not just to the First Growths of Bordeaux or the glamorous bottles from superstars in Tuscany.”
