About the location: Located about half an hour from Aix-en-Provence, you will spend five days of this cooking holiday in France honing your skills and improving your knowledge of Provencal cuisine. Lessons are held in the newly renovated Provencal kitchen on a beautiful wine estate, and are limited to no more than eight people.

About the cooking lessons: Born in Lyon, and currently Head Chef of the Atelier Culinaire Provencal, Chef Daniel Peyraud has worked at 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants, and won 3rd place in a competition held by Pierre Troisgros just to name a few of his accomplishments. And, having spent a number of years in the UK, his English is perfect. The culinary school in Provence consists of five hands on-courses, learning to cook with local and seasonal produce and new culinary techniques.

Wine and Gastronomy Workshop

Itinerary

 

Day One

  • At approximately 9am gathering at the market place of Aix en Provence to discover the local produce and purchase for the cooking class.
  • Following, on to the Chateau de Clapier for your hands on cooking lesson.
  • A lunch of your efforts to follow, complete with fine local wine.

Day Two

  • This morning will be dedicated to a lesson with Jean-Luc Chauvet, a well-know local oenologue. You will go through the history, growth, harvesting, tasting and pairing of food and wine.
  • The afternoon will be completed with a lovely lunch and additional wine-tasting from the Chateau’s cellar.

*A car is needed for this program for transportation to and from the Chateau for the cooking lessons and the market in Aix. We will be happy to assist you with a low cost rental.

*Accommodations are not included but are available on request at small charming properties in the area. Nightly rates, including tax, service and breakfast, range from $100 to $250 per night per room.
